Men’s Performance Points
About Performance Points
The Texas Golf Association has established Player of the Year awards in the following categories: Statewide, Senior, North Regional and South Regional. These awards are presented annually to the players that accumulate the most performance points throughout the calendar year in their respective category.
Performance Points are also used to select players for the Texas Shootout and the USGA Men’s State Team Championship.
Performance Points
The Texas Player of the Year Award will be given to the player that earns the most statewide performance points through the calendar year.
The Senior Player of the Year award will be given to the player that earns the most points through the calendar year. To be eligible for the award, a player must play in at least one (1) TGA event during the year.
The TGA Regional Player of the Year points list is designed to recognize outstanding individual achievement, establish the Texas Shootout team, and reward players for exceptional performance by granting exemptions into future TGA events. Points are awarded for North Regional events and the West Texas Amateur only.
Once conducted in even-numbered years, the Texas Golf Association selected three players to represent the State of Texas in the USGA Men’s State Team Championship.
Of the eight (8) mid-amateurs chosen from each region, four (4) will be selected from the TGA Statewide Player of the Year point standings, and four (4) will be selected from the TGA Regional Player of the Year point standings.
